Paracuru is a picturesque fishing town of about 30000 people situated 100 km north west of Fortaleza in the state of Ceara. In recent times more tourists have been coming but due to the size of the town and responsible planning it retains its local character.
The town center has a recently re-developed square, which leads down to the sea front and the main beach. On weekends you will find many Brazilians on this beach eating, drinking and enjoying the sunshine.
The are several restaurants around town, with BBQ'd meat or Italian food being the most popular choices. Beer or Caipirinhas are cheap and readily available. On Saturday nights the whole town is buzzing and most locals will be heading out to a forro party
