The main kite spot is about 5km from town. The beach at the kite spot is protected from development so you will be kite surfing in a picture postcard kite spot with deserted undeveloped beach all around. The wind is usually 20-25 knots and the most common size of kite is 9 or 7 metres. The kite spot itself has a reef about 200m out. This means that at low tide there is a natural sea lagoon. When the tide comes in a little bit there are large waves about 200m out. At high tide there are big waves everywhere, perfect for sick jumps.
At the kite spot there are hireable lockers for gear and beer and excellent seafood is served, perfect for hanging out between sessions and meeting other kiters. It is easy to get to the kite spot by moto -taxi or share a taxi if you are a group, or scam a lift from a friendly kiter.
As well as kiting the main spot its really easy to arrange down winders from the nearby village Taiba. These take about 1-2 hours down deserted beaches and are not to be missed.
